The Native Son was born on November 27th, 1990 on the south shore side of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. As a young kid that grew up near the ocean he was very much into fishing and diving for a fresh catch. Later on as he got older and found the appreciation for the islands history and culture, The Native Son began to collect small artifacts and coins that he found on the beach side or walking through the towns of Christiansted and Fredericksted. The Island of St. Croix is the island out of the 3 that has a great amount of historical structures that has been left behind since the Mid-1600 when the Knights of Malta colonized. Being from the island all of these historical locations were accessible to The Native Son which every day after school he would ask his grandfather ( Julio Encarnacion Sr.) to take him fishing or coin hunting. With a passion for success and growth The Native Son was off to continue his education at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. As we all know, that when you are an only child you get home sick easily so, The Native Son was on a mission to find a way how he can keep connected to the natives of the Virgin Islands. Luckily for The Native Son he was born in an era that Social Media controls the planet and he was able to create an Instagram page (@thenativeson_usvi) which led him to collecting images and postcards of the islands from people all around the world. The Instagram page was a success because, he was able to educate and connect with fellow Virgin Islanders. The Native Son would like to thank you in advance and welcome you to life of a native from St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands where you will be learning of the culture, history, significant people and many great stories and with hope inspire you to continue his legacy.
